Rebels & Runaways - Youth in Arizona History
Presenter - Doris Morgan Rueda
Youth in Arizona have been at the center of many pivotal historical developments: Hispano teens navigating the transition from Mexican to U.S. rule; Black youths migrating west after Reconstruction; children of Irish immigrants seeking work in copper mines; and Apache children surviving the Camp Grant massacre. Despite their presence throughout the state’s history, they are rarely mentioned in history books or museums.
A first-generation Colombian American and Assistant Professor of History at Appalachian State University, specializing in socio-legal history, her work examines Latinidad and childhood while connecting communities to their histories through scholarship and creative projects.

The Many Lives of Wing Fang
Presenter - Jaynie Adams
The Many Lives of Wing Fang examines the experiences of Chinese Arizonans through the effort to recreate one person's life story. From immigration stories to armed conflict in the Sonoran borderlands, to everyday life in Arizona's Chinatowns, step into Arizona in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as we explore the many lives of Wing Fang.
Presenter Jaynie Adams: History Engagement Manager at the Arizona Historical Society and associate editor of the Journal of Arizona History, she is a Tucson native whose work focuses on housing, transportation, and community development in the Southwest.
