Each year the CSP Visiting Artist Program invites 1 or 2 artists to join the Bisbee Community to work and share their practice. This program is made possible this year by a grant from the Arts Foundation of Tucson and Southern Arizona. Ben Lankton is a dedicated landscape painter
from Brooklyn New York and he is now here painting in our April wind gusts!
CSP are so happy to give him the opportunity to paint the landscape of the West.
Ben’s words sum up is goals while here,
“While in Bisbee, I’m hoping to have the opportunity to experience a wholly different kind of landscape and way of life than I am currently used to. With a history rich in mining, it’s proximity to the border of Mexico, and a sprawling landscape with desert vegetation, Bisbee offers a lens into another world than the one that I see day in and day out.”
Ben studied at and holds a BFA from Pratt Institute, (2012) and has been dedicated to his practice ever since. As part of his visit, Ben would love Bisbee artists to join him on a painting outing. Painting or drawing in the field with Ben Saturday, May 3, 2 PM -Meet at CSP parking lot at 2:00 PM and the vista/location is to be determined. Paint with the light!
Secondly, we would invite our community to a reception to see the work in progress and meet the artist on Sunday, May 4, 1:00- 2:30
Please come and meet Ben and see the work he has already done!
