About this piece
One of six tapetes from the same body of work, each woven in its own distinct palette - echoing the range and uniqueness of the American landscape. The warmest piece in the set - golden yellow against a soft peach ground, divided by a dark maroon zigzag - left open to the viewer's own reading.
About the artist
Margarito Jiménez is a master weaver from Guanajuato, Mexico, working in a tradition passed down through generations of border artisans. These tapetes were brought to Bisbee by Fernando Serrano as part of the bord•er•line exhibition, which celebrates the living weaving culture of the borderlands.
