MAKE Youth Arts Festival Artist Proposal TIPS:
Prepare for 100 children (with their parents)
We can provide helpers.
The activities are drop in all day- not scheduled-
free flow of children rather than a start and end time plays a big part in the success of your art making project.
1. Keep the project simple.
2. Have components/parts pre-made in advance when possible
3. Minimal explanation required. The day is about jumping into process, rather than laying out historical or technical knowledge.
4. MAKE & Take -- Avoid projects that need to dry or set for a period of time. Many beautiful projects are left behind because they forgot to come back to collect it.
5. Think: Simple, Bright and Fun and Educational!
Make is an annual all-day festival that provides immersive arts experiences to local children and their families, all free of charge. A wide range of activities are taught by locally-based creative professionals. These include workshops in various visual arts media, writing, theater, dance, film, etc., as well as performance opportunities.
MAKE provides interactive, multicultural, and multidisciplinary arts experiences. It celebrates art created by young people, and exposes youth to the diversity of the arts through quality performances, exhibitions, and hands-on arts activities. At MAKE, kids learn new skills at fantastic free activities such as monotype and block printing, figure drawing, t-shirt screen printing, making matchbox retablo shrines and clay finger puppets.
